What?
This year we had to write a timed essay about a certain topic. We were given a list to chose from, i chose Acid Rain. The reason i chose Acid rain is due to the fact that i had already written a essay about acid rain in 6th grade. This meant that i already had a basic knowledge about acid rain. Also i think that acid rain is a very important issue in modern world. Seeing as it was a timed essay i had a bit of a problem, however when Mr. Rhodes told us that we would be allowed to type it i was relieved. This is due to the fact that i am slow at handwriting, yet at typing i am really fast. We had to write what Acid rain is, how it effects the world and what advantages and disadvantages the ways of science have. I was quite scared since we only had about 45 minutes, yet i prepared well with a good plan and i was prepared for the essay. We then had to upload our essay to the class wiki. Seeing as it was a in-class essay it was not a group project. I got a 5/6 and another 5/6 on this essay. So What?
This project was very significant because it was a science essay, and these are always important. I wasssay quite proud, especially since i wrote the whole essay within about 30 minutes. I had to do it so quickly due to the fact that my computer refused to log in for a while, and there were no other computers. I was quite proud that i managed to write so much in only 30 minutes. The topic is really interesting and it has a major effect on the environment, which you would realize if you read my essay. Now What?
This essay has made me a better learner in many ways. One way is that it has made me much more aware of the environment, as i now know alot about Acid Rain. I also learnt about the different methods of how science is being applied to the matter, and i can compare them to the ones there were two years ago, when i wrote a similiar essay. I have also learnt to organize essays better. Another thing i have learnt is how to work under time pressure, as i would ussually be scared to write an essay in only 45 minutes. This will help me write timed essays in the future.
