Since Arabic is the official language in Qatar it is important to know something about it. I find Arabic a hard language to learn, yet i am grateful that i take it as it will help me later on in life.
Practicing our English is very important as English is the main language of the world. Also our school is a English school and so we need to know English very well.
We have to take Math because we need to know how to do basic things in Math. Also without math we would have barely anything in the world, no computers, houses or anything like that.
PE
We practice P.E in order to stay fit and we need to do a lot of sports to have a healthy life style.
I.T/D.T
We need IT because the modern world is building around computers and so we need a fair knowledge of it. We need to learn D.T in order to know how to make basic things.
Drama/Art/Music
These subjects can help us become actors, musicians or artist later on in life. These classes are very fun and I enjoy them a lot!
Humanities
We need to know about our world and why it is the way it is. It is also good for us to know a brief history of the world and our surroundings.
We need science in order to understand our world better. However I feel that some of the stuff we learn is totally unimportant.
*Students that joined Qatar Academy in Grade 8 have the choice of taking Spanish (French) or Arabic. They must however take all of the other 8 subjects. Students that are Muslim must take Islamic Studies, while students of other religion take Arabic Culture. There are five different Arabic classes, each with a different teacher. There are two beginner Arabic classes, and three classes with advanced Arabic classes. When students come to Qatar Academy theycan choose to take Spanish or French. Students take D.T and I.T, however they only take each for one and a half terms. After one and a half terms they switch to the other class, and start with this. Drama, Art and Music are also taken by all classes, each for one term. This means that a student will get to do each of these things for one term during the year.
